Title: Lavender Seas
Size: 7.5″ x 9.5″
Lavender Seas is an abstract painting created using acrylic paint on canvas board. It comes framed in gray without glass.
Lavender Seas is an abstract painting that was an exercise in play & color. Made with acrylic paints and isopropyl alcohol, I combined the two to see what the effects would be. My mixture was off most of what I was hoping would happen simply didn’t. However, the colors flowed and combined nicely in the end. There are some subtle alcohol-based effects (some splatters & a bit of cellular formation at the top) so it wasn’t a total loss on that end. Ultimately, I was very happy with the way it turned out.
I love working with purples and blues. If I didn’t consciously try to use other color palettes, I think most of my work would be in that color range. For this piece, I added in a rather bold magenta. It was a small amount but it mixed in very nicely and adds to the over all soothing nature of the painting. Because I find it very soothing to look at, and lavender is one of the major colors, it seemed like Lavender Seas would be a good name.
