More About this Painting:
Fleeting Brilliance is a nearly forgotten painting. I created The Undine Nebula and, mixed far too much paint. I poured the extra on this canvas board, tucked in a drawer to dry, and forgot about. For at least a month.
When I rediscovered it, I had some really mixed feelings. There was this large void that seemed out of place and yet the arrangement of the colors didn’t leave much room to paint a planet. Unsure of how to proceed, I started adding stars. On this painting I decided to paint some of the stars with metallic paints. While most of the stars are white, there are a smattering of blue, gold, and red stars.
I realized a comet would work best since the void wasn’t large enough for a planet but to long just to fill with stars. The comet is done in metallic white, silver, and a metallic stainless steal. When that was dry, I made a few stars ‘sparkle’ and finished it with a high gloss varnish.
