More about this painting:
Rainbow Sorbet is an abstract painting created for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge in September 2017. It was created alongside After the Storm. This painting used only white with the pastel colors of blue, pink, and yellow. The other hues are the result of the paint mixing.
This painting was made using the swipe technique. After pouring on the 3 main colors, a large amount of white was pouring along the top. Using a large flat putty knife, I swiped the white paint across the colors. This swipe, along with the addition of the silicone oil in each color, creates the intricate cellular structure.
Sadly this painting has some inadvertent texture. Several large chunks of dried paint managed to find their way onto this piece without my noticing them until it was dry. It’s too lovely to merely scrap it so I’m hoping something is willing to overlook the bumpy areas.
The title for this piece was born out of being entirely stuck for a title. After several days of staring at the piece & not coming up with one I went to Plan B. I did a Google image search for “pastel rainbow.” Among the images that came up was several featuring sherbet. Sorbet is a nicer sounding word so I went with that.
