Winter Solstice was created using acrylic paint, glitter paint, pouring medium, silicone oil, and clear plastic filler on canvas.
The Story:
Winter Solstice is an abstract painting created for the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge in September 2017. I had created paintings with a Halloween color palette and decided winter was my next color theme.
This pour painting started with a large amount of pure white paint to coat the entire canvas board. I poured a mix of metallic icy blue, metallic purple, and a blue glitter paint at the top. At the bottom is a metallic white paint (it comes out a cream color comparatively). The glitter paint doesn’t mix, which I knew, but it does makes some nifty glittery cracks.
The bottom part seemed a bit off so I added in some clear plastic bits. Those are technically made to fill vases with but I bought them for a different project & have several jars left.
The title is a nod to the color scheme. Titling it ‘winter’ didn’t quite seem right so I decided to name it after my favorite winter holiday.
